This will take you to our scheduling platform on SimplePractice. Step 2: Select the "New Client" option. You will be prompted to choose the service you are seeking. • What rights do I have under the "No Surprises Act?" Good Faith Estimate
🧠 Good Faith Estimate for Mental Health Services Under the No Surprises Act, mental health providers are required to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for services. You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of what your mental health care will cost. This estimate outlines the anticipated costs of services such as therapy, evaluations, or other mental health treatments. It applies if you’re uninsured or choose not to use your insurance for care. The estimate is provided in writing before your service begins or upon request. Key Information: The estimate is not a bill—it is simply a projection based on the services you are likely to receive. Actual charges may vary based on changes in your treatment plan, goals, or frequency of sessions. If your bill is $400 or more than the estimate, you have the right to dispute it. What You Can Do: Ask for a Good Faith Estimate in advance of scheduling services. Keep a copy of the estimate for your records. Contact us if you have questions or concerns about the estimate or your bill.
  • I've never done counseling before. What can I expect during my first counseling appointment?
During your first counseling session, you'll start by meeting your therapist, going over confidentiality and completing any necessary paperwork. You'll discuss what brought you to therapy, your background, and any current challenges. The therapist may ask about your relationships, work, or mental health history to better understand your situation. Together, you'll begin setting goals for your sessions. It's a time to build trust and get comfortable—there's no pressure to share everything right away. Go at your own pace.
  • I'm skeptical about the whole process. How is counseling actually going to help me?
Counseling helps by providing a safe, supportive space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and challenges. A trained therapist offers guidance, coping strategies, and new perspectives to help you better understand yourself, improve relationships, and manage stress or mental health issues. Over time, it can lead to greater self-awareness, emotional growth, and a stronger sense of well-being.
  • How long does the whole counseling process take?
The length of the counseling process varies depending on your goals, needs, and the issues you're working through. Some people feel better after a few sessions (6–12), while others continue for months or even years, especially if they’re exploring deeper patterns or long-term challenges. You and your therapist will regularly check in to assess progress and adjust as needed.
  • What happens if I need to cancel or miss an appointment?
We totally understand that life happens and sometimes you might need to miss or reschedule a session. If possible, we just ask that you let us know at least 24 hours in advance. If missed appointments become a regular thing without notice, there may be a $50 charge added for each missed session, or in some cases, we may need to pause or end counseling. Your therapist will make that call based on the situation.
  • Will my counselor tell anyone about whats been shared in my counseling session?
No worries—what you share in counseling stays private. That said, there are a few rare situations where we’re legally required to share information with others. These include: If there’s a clear risk of harm to yourself or someone else, If there’s any report of child or elder abuse or neglect, Or if a court requires us to share certain information.
